A busy February! Here's a quick look at what's new in PitStopper this month.

Garmin FIT File Support
PitStopper now imports and exports Garmin FIT files alongside GPX. Upload a .fit file straight from your Garmin device and PitStopper will parse it just like a GPX track. You can also export your route with POI waypoints back to FIT format for loading onto your device.
Historical Weather
Planning a ride weeks in advance? The new Historical Weather feature checks past weather data for your route's start, midpoint, and end so you can get a feel for what conditions to expect. It's powered by Open-Meteo and available from the Tools menu.
Fuel Prices & Opening Times
If you're driving or motorcycling, PitStopper now shows live fuel prices and opening times for petrol stations along your route. Coverage currently includes the UK, France, Spain, and Italy with data refreshed regularly.
Bulk POI Editor
Need to tidy up a long list of POIs? The Bulk POI Editor gives you a full-screen table view of every POI on your route. Rename, delete, star, or re-categorise them in bulk — much faster than clicking through one at a time.
Colourful POI Categories
Each POI category group now has its own colour on the map, making it much easier to tell water stops from food stops at a glance. You can also customise the colours to your preference via the category settings. Thanks to Stefan from Germany for suggesting this one!
App Menu Bar
The footer toolbar has been replaced with a proper application menu bar across the top of the screen. File, Route, Tools, View, Export, Settings — everything's organised into logical menus. The sidebar is cleaner as a result, and there's more room for the map.
Faster POI Search
POI searches on long routes are now significantly faster. Queries run in parallel and use smarter bounding boxes that follow the route rather than covering a huge rectangle. The POI cache has also been extended from 24 hours to 5 days, so repeat searches are near-instant.
Other Improvements
- Multi-file upload — drag and drop several GPX/FIT files at once to load multiple routes
- Live address autocomplete — the Search Location modal now shows suggestions as you type
- GPX export improvements — better compatibility with Ride with GPS and other tools
- Trip timing in exports — GPX and FIT exports now include estimated timing data
- Data Sources page — a new page listing all the APIs and services PitStopper uses, with live status checks
- XSS security fix — external API data is now sanitised before display to prevent injection
As always, we'd love to hear your feedback. Drop us a line at hello@pitstopper.net.
As the weather gets better I'll be out cycling more — so expect fewer updates over spring and summer!
Happy route planning!
