Plan Multi-Loop Endurance Events with the Multi-Loop Planner

If you've ever ridden a multi-loop endurance event, you'll know the planning headache: which loops, in what order, how long will each take, and will you be riding in the dark?

We've built a free tool to help — the Multi-Loop Planner.

What Is It?

The Multi-Loop Planner lets you upload your event's GPX or FIT route files and assemble them into a sequence. For each loop you get distance, ascent, estimated duration, and cumulative totals. Set your start time and it calculates when you'll finish each loop — including sunrise and sunset markers so you know exactly when you'll be riding in the dark.

A Real Example: The Equinox Omniloop

The Equinox Omniloop is a 24-hour cycling event in the Cotswolds where riders choose from three loops — Short, Medium, and Big — and aim to accumulate as many points as possible within the time limit. Each loop has a different point value, and strategy matters: do you repeat the short loop for quick points or tackle the big loop for maximum reward?

The Multi-Loop Planner is perfect for this. Load the three route files, set your start time and event duration, enable scoring, and drag loops into your preferred order. The planner shows your cumulative time and score so you can experiment with different strategies before the event.

How It Works with PitStopper

Once you've decided on your loop order, load each route into PitStopper to find water stops, cafes, and fuel stations along the way. PitStopper's multi-route support lets you view all your loops on one map and search for POIs across all of them.

Key Features

  • Drag-and-drop route files — GPX, FIT, and GeoJSON supported
  • Adjustable speed and break times per loop
  • Sunrise/sunset markers on each loop so you can plan for lighting
  • Scoring mode for points-based events
  • Save and reload plans to refine your strategy
  • Export as markdown to share your plan with friends or event organisers

The Multi-Loop Planner is completely free and runs in your browser — no account needed. Give it a try at skeffling.net/gpxfit/Multi-Loop-Planner.html.
