Finding POIs Around Any Location

Beyond GPX Routes: Location-Based Discovery

While PitStopper was originally designed for analyzing GPX routes, it's equally powerful for discovering points of interest around any location. Whether you're planning a trip to a new city, researching neighborhoods before moving, or finding facilities near a campsite, you can search for POIs without uploading a route file.

Four Ways to Specify Your Location

Simply type in a city name, landmark, or street address:

  • London, UK
  • Eiffel Tower, Paris
  • Times Square, New York

2. Decimal Coordinates

3. DMS Coordinates

  2. Enter Your Location: Use any of the four methods above
  3. Set Search Radius: Choose from 50m to 5000m depending on your needs
  4. Select POI Categories: Pick from 60+ categories including:
    • Water sources & drinking fountains
    • Restaurants, cafes & bakeries
    • Hotels & accommodations

Practical Use Cases

Trip Planning "I'm visiting Paris next month - what cafes and bakeries are near my hotel?" Search around your hotel address with a 500m radius.

Moving Research "I'm considering this neighborhood - where are the nearest grocery stores, pharmacies, and bike shops?" Search the area to see all essential services.

Camping Preparation "What facilities are within 2km of my campsite coordinates?" Use decimal coordinates to see water sources, shops, and emergency services.

Exporting Your Findings

Once you've found the POIs you need, click "Print POI Report" to generate a printable sheet including:

  • POI names and categories
  • Distances from your search center
  • Compass directions
  • Opening hours (when available)
  • Notes and custom information

Pro Tip: Start with a smaller radius (500m) for dense urban areas, and increase to 2-5km for rural locations to get comprehensive results without overwhelming yourself with options.
