Introducing Help Mode - Contextual Help at Your Fingertips

What is Help Mode?

PitStopper has a lot of features - maybe more than you realise! Help Mode makes it easy to discover what everything does by displaying orange question mark icons next to UI elements throughout the interface.

When you see a feature you're curious about, just click its help icon to jump directly to the relevant section in our documentation.

How to Activate Help Mode

There are three ways to turn on Help Mode:

  1. Press F1 on your keyboard
  2. Click the ? button in the footer bar
  3. Select "Help Mode" from the Info menu

Once activated, you'll see orange question marks appear next to:

  • Sidebar controls (Search Radius, Quick Presets, POI Categories)
  • Map toolbar buttons
  • Footer menu items
  • Items in the Tools and Export menus
  • Modal dialogs when they open
  • Right-click context menu items

Using Help Mode

Simply click any orange question mark icon to open the help documentation at the exact section that explains that feature. It's the quickest way to learn what something does without searching through the docs.

Exiting Help Mode

Press ESC on your keyboard, or click the floating "Help Mode Active" indicator to exit. The help icons will disappear and you can continue using PitStopper as normal.

Why We Built This

We kept hearing from users who discovered features months after they started using PitStopper. "I didn't know you could do that!" was a common refrain. Help Mode solves this by making every feature discoverable - just activate it and explore.

Whether you're new to PitStopper or a long-time user, give Help Mode a try. You might discover something useful you never knew was there.
