Hospitals, AEDs, pharmacies and more, cached offline within 35 km of your route - so PitStopper On-the-go still has them even with no signal, deep in the hills or far from a town.

This is not a replacement for calling for help.

Emergency POIs are based on OpenStreetMap data - it may be incomplete or out of date, and a POI being listed here doesn't guarantee it's staffed, open, or in working order. Always call your local emergency number first if you need help.

Turning it on

Emergency POIs are cached from PitStopper Web when you save or send a project - there's nothing to configure on the phone itself.

  1. Plan your route as normal

Load a GPX/FIT file or search around a location on PitStopper Web.

  2. Save Project or Send to Phone

Both dialogs have an "Include Emergency POIs (35 km)" checkbox - it's on by default, so most people never need to touch it.

  3. Open the project on your phone

Load the .psp file (or receive it via Send to Phone) in PitStopper On-the-go. A new red Emergency button appears in the filter bar.

What gets cached

Every category is fetched at a fixed 35 km radius, independent of your normal search radius or which categories you've ticked - it's a safety net, not a regular search.

Shown first

Hospitals & AEDs

  • Hospitals (with an A&E badge where OpenStreetMap marks emergency capability)
  • AEDs / defibrillators - with access, opening hours, indoor/outdoor and location notes when recorded
  • A&E entrances
Under "More"

Everything else

  • Pharmacies, police, fire stations, clinics, first aid kits
  • Train stations
  • Mountain rescue posts, lifeguards, emergency phones
  • Alpine & wilderness huts, toilets, shelters

Using it on the ride

Tap the red Emergency button (in either Following route or Find Nearby) for a straight-forward list, closest first: AEDs and hospitals at the top, everything else one tap away under "More". Tap any result for full details, directions, and a copy-coordinates button.

Two kinds of distance

The figure on each row is straight-line ("as the crow flies") - useful for a sense of direction, but it can't tell you if there's actually a road there. Open a result's detail sheet to see how far it is along the route and off to the side, which gives a better sense of whether it's realistically reachable.

Real road distance (Premium)

With Premium unlocked, results also show a real road-network distance - not just a straight line - computed live via our BRouter server as you scroll. It only fetches for the results you're actually looking at, not the whole list at once, to keep it quick and light on data.

Good to know

Free for everyone. Emergency POIs, distances and the "along the route" / "off to the side" figures are never behind the Premium unlock - only the real road-distance figure is a Premium extra.

Works fully offline. Once cached, everything shown is stored on the phone - no signal needed to see it.

It's a safety net, not a plan. If you're planning a route somewhere genuinely remote, it's still worth checking what's actually along the way before you set off.
