We've added right-click context menus throughout PitStopper, making it faster and easier to explore your route and manage your POIs. No more hunting through panels or buttons - just right-click where you need to take action.

Three Context Menus for Different Needs
PitStopper now offers context-sensitive menus depending on where you right-click:
1. Map Context Menu (Right-click anywhere on the map)
When you right-click on an empty area of the map, you'll see options to:
- Coordinates - View and copy the exact lat/long coordinates
- Get Elevation - Fetch the elevation at that point (when no route loaded)
- Add POI Here - Quickly add a custom POI at that exact location
- Query POIs at Location - Search for nearby POIs in your selected categories
- Query Closest POI - Find the single nearest POI to that point
- Open in Google Maps - View this location in Google Maps
- Open in Street View - See the street-level view (great for checking road conditions!)
- Open in OpenStreetMap - View on OSM for detailed mapping data
- Zoom Controls - Quick zoom in/out and centre on route buttons
- Export GPX - Quick access to export your route
2. Route Context Menu (Right-click on the route line)
When you right-click directly on your loaded route, you get all the map options plus detailed route information:
- Distance from Start - How far along the route this point is
- Distance to End - How far remaining to the finish
- Elevation - The elevation at this point on the route
- Time from Start - Estimated riding/walking time to reach this point (if timing data available)
This is incredibly useful for planning stops or understanding where you'll be at certain points along your journey.
3. POI Context Menu (Right-click on any POI marker)
Right-clicking on a POI marker gives you a full set of management options:
- POI Name - Shows the POI name at the top for clarity
- Zoom to POI - Centre the map on this POI
- Mark Favorite - Star/unstar to mark important stops
- Edit POI - Open the full edit dialog
- Add Note - Quickly add a personal note to this POI
- Move POI - Relocate the POI to a new position (click the new location)
- Change Icon - Customise the POI's display icon
- Copy Coordinates - Copy lat/long to clipboard
- Open in Google Maps - View the POI location in Google Maps
- Open in Street View - Check out the surroundings
- Open in OpenStreetMap - See the OSM data for this location
- Delete POI - Remove the POI (with undo support)
Why Context Menus?
We wanted to make PitStopper feel more intuitive and reduce the number of clicks needed for common tasks. Right-click menus are a familiar pattern that desktop users expect, and they put relevant actions right where you need them.
Some examples of how this speeds up your workflow:
- Planning a coffee stop? Right-click on the route where you want to stop, check the distance and time, then query for nearby cafes.
- Found a POI but it's in the wrong spot? Right-click and choose "Move POI" - no need to delete and recreate.
- Want to check road conditions? Right-click anywhere and open Street View instantly.
- Need to share a location? Right-click and copy the coordinates with one click.
Touch Device Support
Using a tablet or phone? No problem! You can long-press (hold your finger down for about half a second) to open the context menus:
- Long-press on the map - Opens the map context menu
- Long-press on the route - Opens the route context menu with distance and time info
- Long-press on a POI marker - Opens the POI management menu
If your device supports haptic feedback, you'll feel a brief vibration when the menu opens. Moving your finger while pressing will cancel the action, so normal map panning still works as expected.
Keyboard Shortcut
You can dismiss any context menu by pressing Escape or clicking/tapping elsewhere on the map.
We hope these new context menus help you explore and manage your routes more efficiently. As always, we'd love to hear your feedback!
Happy routing!
