Behind the Scenes: A Cleaner Codebase for Faster Features

Same PitStopper, Better Foundation

If you've used PitStopper recently, you might not have noticed anything different. Good! That's exactly the point.

Over the past few weeks, we've been doing some serious housekeeping behind the scenes. Think of it like reorganising a cluttered workshop—everything's in the same place you left it, but now we know exactly where all the tools are.

Why Bother?

When we first built PitStopper, everything lived in one big file. It worked brilliantly, but as we added more features, that file grew and grew. Finding things became trickier. Making changes meant scrolling through thousands of lines of code.

Now, each feature has its own tidy home. The map code lives with the map code. POI searching has its own space. Elevation charts do their thing in their own corner. It's much easier to work with.

What This Means for You

Honestly? You shouldn't notice a thing. PitStopper works exactly as it did before—same features, same look, same reliability.

But here's the exciting bit: we can now add new features faster. When everything's organised, improvements that used to take days might only take hours. Bug fixes become simpler too.

Got Ideas?

We're always keen to hear what features would make your route planning easier. Drop us an email at skeffling@gmail.com with your suggestions. With our tidier codebase, your great idea might become reality sooner than you think!

Happy route planning!
