Override the default color for this category's map markers.
Show only the closest POIs to your route for this category.
Override the default color for all POI markers in this group. Individual category colors will still take priority.
Select a previously saved preset .json file
Create a custom POI category using OpenStreetMap tags. Tags are key=value pairs that describe map features.
Examples: man_made=lighthouse, historic=castle, amenity=ice_cream
Export just your POIs (no route track) as a point-of-interest file for apps like Cruiser and Locus Map.
A plain GPX of waypoints - opens almost everywhere, including Cruiser, Locus Map, Garmin and Komoot.

Click a point for its card. Drag a box to select points, then favourite, flag, delete or zoom to them. Double-click resets the zoom.
Add distance markers at regular intervals along your route. These markers will appear on the map and can be included in your exported GPX file.

The POI cache stores previously searched POI categories to improve performance. If you're not finding expected POIs, try clearing the cache to force a fresh search.
Elevation data is cached to reduce API calls when the same POI locations are searched again.
PitStopper keeps your saved projects and the POI cache in your browser's IndexedDB database, and your preferences and smaller caches in localStorage. Nothing is uploaded to a server. Clear a cache to free space, reset just your settings, or wipe everything. (App behaviour toggles live under Settings → Preferences.)

How PitStopper behaves. Preferences are saved in your browser and apply immediately.
Automatically fetch elevation data for POIs in the background
Hide the elevation chart for faster loading on large routes (distances and exports always use full data)
On out-and-back routes, show each time you pass a POI with its own distance (a café at 20 km out is also at 80 km on the way back)
Query all categories along the whole route in one request via a PostGIS server. Falls back to the standard lookup automatically if unavailable.
Quietly fetch all categories along the route a few seconds after it loads, so category ticks and radius changes are instant
On export, warn about waypoints further than this from the track. Garmin Connect discards waypoints beyond ~40m.
You have 0 POIs.
Fetching elevation for all of them will make multiple API requests. Do you want to proceed?
This tool compares your GPX file's elevation data against SRTM satellite terrain data. It samples 100 points along your route and checks for discrepancies, helping identify if your GPS recorded accurate elevation or if the data may need correction.
| Metric | GPX File | Server (SRTM) | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Min Elevation | - | - | - |
| Max Elevation | - | - | - |
| Total Gain | - | - | - |
| Total Loss | - | - | - |

This dashboard shows the health and performance of Overpass API servers. Servers with 3+ consecutive failures are placed in a 5-minute cooldown.
Enter an OpenStreetMap element URL or ID to check if it should appear in your POI search results. This tool will analyze the element's tags, calculate its distance from your route, and explain why it may or may not be appearing.
Supported formats: node/123456, way/123456, relation/123456, or full OSM URLs
Test connectivity to all external APIs used by PitStopper. This diagnostic tool helps identify network issues or API outages.

You will lose the following unsaved work:
You have categories with more than 10 POIs!
Here are three ways to manage them:
When limiting, the closest POIs to your route are always kept.
Did you know you can right-click (or long-press on mobile) for extra options?
When you delete this POI, it won't appear in future searches even if you search for the same category again. This helps keep your map clean.
You can manage all deleted POIs using the "Deleted POIs" button in the sidebar.
POIs you've deleted are listed here. Restore them to add back to the map, or clear to permanently remove from this list.
Some POIs from your search match previously starred favorites. Would you like to restore their starred status?
